To all Shorewood Hills Elementary School supporters,
The playground is more than just a school facility - it is a community asset. We are looking to improve upon two existing playgrounds, the 4K playground area and the structure that is used by the 2nd and 3rd graders. The motivation behind these changes is to make our play space accessible to children of all ages and abilities. The existing equipment is not up to current national standards. Improving the spaces would not only make them more inclusive to our community, but would also improve the value of the school and neighborhood.
The proposed changes would replace the existing 4K structure with a natural looking structure that is accessible to ages 5 and under. We are also proposing to expand the existing playspace to incorporate natural play elements such as stepping stones, log balance beams, and a log tunnel. These changes would appeal to the younger students and also to community members with children or grandchildren.
The existing structure that is used by the 2nd and 3rd graders is outdated and run down. We are proposing to replace this structure with a new and improved one that would allow for more diversity in play, allow more children to use the space, and would be accessible to children with disabilities.
Thank you for your time and consideration of giving to this cause. Working together, we are confident we can build a great play space for the the school that will last for years to come.
