Sheboygan Falls Community Build Playground

A community build with nearly fifty volunteers breathes new life into Woodview Park

The volunteers came out on a misty, cloudy day with all hands on deck for their new playground at Woodview Park! The space features a Double Swoosh Slide, Slidewinder, Croquet Climber, Cliff Climber, and double bay swing that includes 3 Belt Seats and one Molded Bucket Seat. As an added bonus, a Kaleidoscope Bench was added to recognize the Kiwanis Club of Sheboygan Falls for their contributions to this project.

This time last year, Woodview Park was a quaint space housing an aging wooden play structure, ready for an update. This inspired Mayor Randy Meyer, who worked closely with Gerber Leisure Products, The Kiwanis Club of Sheboygan Falls, and several community leaders and neighbors to begin planning for their new space. While we were busy tweaking designs to ensure they received what was on their wishlist, Randy and his team worked hard to raise the funds that would provide for the new equipment.

Fast forward to May 2018, and everything had come together perfectly. City employees arrived with the equipment and skills needed, excavating the area in preparation for the next day's build. Many hands make light work, and with nearly 50 volunteers in great spirits, the build went incredibly well, and ended hours ahead of schedule! From a volunteer-provided lunch potluck to the site neighbor who kindly offered buckets for us to organize our hardware, not a detail was overlooked when it came to care for the volunteers and ease in installation. The community effort was truly impressive, and in the end, the community build provided a safe, fun playground for friends, neighbors, family, and community to enjoy!
